"My heart hurts - let theirs hurt too": Man accused of damaging cars over stolen speaker | Video

A 40-year-old Jerusalem resident, Shlomo Bluka, was indicted for setting fire to cardboard boxes at the entrance of a lottery station and damaging four parked cars in Safed on Rosh Hashanah eve, as revenge for the theft of a speaker worth 1,500 shekels. The suspect was arrested at the scene, and two indictments were filed against him, including charges of intentional damage and arson.

A 40-year-old Jerusalem resident, Shlomo Bluka, was indicted yesterday (Wednesday) for setting fire to cardboard boxes at the entrance of a lottery station and causing damage to four parked cars in Safed on Rosh Hashanah eve. The incident occurred around 11:15 PM, when a report was received at the police dispatch. Officers from the Northern District who were called to the scene located Bluka and arrested him on the spot. When asked about his actions, he told the officers: "They stole a speaker worth 1,500 shekels from me. This is measure for measure. My heart hurts - let theirs hurt too." To an officer who remarked that he was harming unrelated people, he replied: "Oh, and they steal from me without knowing me?" According to the indictment, Bluka arrived at the lottery station, lit pieces of cardboard and threw them at its entrance, and later smashed a Hyundai car window with a stone, as well as the rear windshields of three other vehicles (Hyundai, Skoda, and Subaru). Additionally, he is charged with another offense from July, in which he scratched two vehicles with a sharp object in the parking lot of the "Rimonim" hotel in Safed. His detention was extended from time to time, and yesterday two indictments were filed against him at the Kiryat Shmona Magistrate's Court by the police prosecution unit, including charges of intentional damage to a vehicle and reckless use of fire or flammable material.
