The police account contradicts the testimony of the family and local sources, who stated that Mahamid was stopped and handcuffed during the pursuit, then managed to return to his vehicle and leave the scene, leading to a renewed chase ending in a traffic accident, before the police were able to stop him again and open fire while he was handcuffed. His brother, Fathi Mahamid, accused the police of executing him in cold blood, noting that he was stopped for a traffic violation and was suffering from psychological problems. He also accused the police of removing surveillance camera recordings from the area after the shooting and washing the crime scene. The Umm al-Fahm municipality condemned the incident and held the police responsible, calling for the formation of an independent and professional investigation committee including a family representative. The Joint List condemned the incident and considered it a field execution, accusing the police of a cover-up.
