Murder in Umm al-Fahm: Court Shortens Qusai Khariri's Detention by One Day

The Haifa District Court shortened by one day the detention of Qusai Khariri, an 18-year-old from Umm al-Fahm suspected of murdering Nimr Jabarin. Police revealed that the suspect is the brother-in-law of Nasser Khariri, but his attorneys denied any connection. Judge Shlomo Benjo ordered him to remain in custody but reduced the period.

The Haifa District Court shortened by one day the detention of Qusai Khariri, an 18-year-old from Umm al-Fahm suspected of murdering 20-year-old Nimr Jabarin. During a hearing on the suspect's appeal against a seven-day extension of his detention by the Hadera Magistrate's Court, police revealed that Khariri is the brother-in-law of Nasser Khariri. Police representative, Chief Superintendent Gilad Peretz, stated that this is a 'complex murder case' and that the family connection has significant implications for obstruction and interference with the investigation. In response, Khariri's attorneys, lawyers Doron Noy, Omar Masrawa, and Guy Shemtnik, rejected the claims and denied any connection to Nasser Khariri. Judge Shlomo Benjo ordered the suspect to remain in custody but shortened the period by one day. Khariri, who was wounded by five bullets in the incident, remains hospitalized under guard at Emek Medical Center. Next Monday, he will be brought for another hearing on extending his detention at the Rishon LeZion Magistrate's Court.
