Court ruled: Security coordinator arrested by Shin Bet to be released to house arrest

Judge Dan Bauman of the District Court rejected the prosecution's request to extend the detention of a security coordinator from the Samaria region who was arrested by the Shin Bet, and ordered his release to house arrest for one week. The prosecution announced it would seek to stay the execution of the decision. Attorney Nati Rom from the Honenu organization welcomed the decision and criticized the detention conditions. MK Limor Son Har-Melech called for immediate release.

Judge Dan Bauman of the District Court rejected the prosecution's request to extend by eight days the detention of a security coordinator from Samaria who was arrested by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), and ordered his release to house arrest for one week. The judge ruled that he sees no reason to continue holding him at the Shin Bet facility. The prosecution announced it would file a request to stay the execution of the decision, so his actual release has not yet been completed. Dozens of security coordinators and the detainee's friends from reserve duty attended the hearing, along with MK Limor Son Har-Melech from Otzma Yehudit, who called for respecting the court's decision and allowing immediate release. Attorney Nati Rom from the Honenu organization, representing the detainee, welcomed the decision and sharply criticized the detention conditions at the Shin Bet, claiming his client was held in a small dungeon and denied meetings with his lawyers. According to him, this is a bereaved brother who served hundreds of days in combat and evacuating wounded, and struggled to understand why such harsh investigative measures were being used against him. MK Son Har-Melech called him a "hero of Israel" and demanded his immediate release. Now the question of his actual release depends on the District Court's decision on the stay request.
