Security camera footage published by Walla shows a person throwing a stun grenade at the home of Amnon Maksimov, director general of the Elad municipality, and fleeing. That same evening the car of Shimon Suissa, head of the mayor's bureau, was set on fire. Two brothers, residents of Elad in their 20s and 30s, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in both incidents. The detention of one was extended until October 20, and of the other until October 19. According to the police, the initial suspicion is that the incidents are connected to municipal enforcement activity against them, particularly an eviction order they received. A senior municipal official told Walla that the municipality had recently acted to regularize the situation of lands and commercial centers where there had been takeovers, and expressed concern that those harmed by the moves are trying to harm senior officials. The Elad municipality said: "The Elad municipality will not allow these elements to dictate the municipal agenda through threats or the application of pressure. No threat will deter us." No one was hurt in the two incidents.
