Evan Ndlovu, a veteran sports broadcaster in South Africa and former employee of the public broadcaster SABC, was kidnapped on Tuesday evening in front of his wife while picking her up from a church in the Katlehong area near Johannesburg. His body was found the next morning in Tembisa with signs of gunfire. Police have launched a manhunt for three suspects. According to Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhululi, three unknown men, one of them armed, approached the couple, pushed the woman aside, and forced Ndlovu into the back seat. His vehicle, a Ford Ranger pickup, was found abandoned in Walkerville. Ndlovu, 54, was a well-known figure as a sports commentator and producer at SABC. The case highlights the high levels of violent crime in South Africa; police data from April to June 2026 recorded over 5,000 murders and nearly 4,000 carjackings.
