Jabareen warns of displacement plans and calls for comprehensive national dialogue
Zaher Jabareen, head of Hamas in the West Bank, warned of Israeli plans to displace Palestinians and called on the international community to act. On internal affairs, he considered the postponement of elections a correct step to prepare the atmosphere for a comprehensive national dialogue that ends the division and reforms the political system.
Zaher Jabareen, head of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the West Bank, warned of Israeli plans aimed at uprooting the Palestinian people from their land and displacing them, calling on the Arab, Islamic and international community to act to protect Palestinians and stop the attacks. His remarks came in an interview with Al Jazeera on Sunday evening. Jabareen noted that before October 7, 2023, the occupation government had adopted a program based on resolving the conflict and stripping Palestinians of their land and holy sites. He added that Hamas responded to mediators' efforts to stop the attacks, but the occupation continues its plans amid an absence of deterrence. On internal affairs, Jabareen considered that current conditions were not conducive to holding Palestinian elections, and that postponing them is a step in the right direction to prepare the atmosphere for a comprehensive national dialogue. He explained that the dialogue should lead to reforming the political system and holding simultaneous presidential and legislative elections, with agreement on a clear political and struggle program to confront the occupation and end the division. He affirmed Hamas's openness to a comprehensive national dialogue including the various forces, praising Egypt's role in sponsoring it.
