An indictment was filed against two Israelis, residents of the south, who attempted to smuggle approximately 47 kilograms of hashish and cocaine across the Jordanian border fence. The two documented the smuggling themselves using their mobile phone, a video later seized by investigators from the Northern District Police's YMR (Central Unit). The incident occurred on September 14, 2026, near Maoz Haim. According to the indictment, the two met in the south with a person who offered each of them five thousand dollars for transferring the drugs to Jordan. They left the Yeruham area at 3:30 AM, received ten packages of hashish weighing a total of about 47 kilograms, and inside two of them two units of cocaine were hidden. After throwing the drugs over the fence, they left and returned shortly to the same spot, where a bag containing 47 packs of cigarettes was thrown towards them. IDF observations identified the activity and alerted fighters from the Border Unit Yagal of the Northern District YMR. The vehicle fled south but was caught in Wadi Ara around 8:40 AM. The cigarettes were found in the vehicle; the drugs were seized near the fence on the Jordanian side. Police reported that in recent months, about 700 kilograms of drugs have been seized in the eastern border area. The identity of the person who sent the couriers is still unknown.
