Israel Aerospace Industries will unveil for the first time this week at the AUSA exhibition in Washington the POINT@AIR, a new tactical radar system mounted on a compact aerostat. The system integrates active electronic scanning AESA technology, providing 360-degree coverage and continuous tracking from altitude. Placing the radar at height extends the line of sight beyond terrain contours and ground-level obstacles, enabling earlier detection of low-altitude threats, including drones. IAI officials say the system is designed for continuous operation and rapid deployment, without reliance on fixed infrastructure. Its compact and mobile configuration allows it to be transported and its position adjusted to changing mission needs. The new development is intended to address the drone threat, including against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, and to provide forces in the field with precious reaction time.
