IMRA updated the court: Contamination anomalies found in one of the plots in the large block in Sde Dov

The Israel Land Authority (IMRA) updated the court that in one of the four plots examined in the large block in Sde Dov, PFAS anomalies were found exceeding the threshold values. In the other three plots, no anomalies were found. Additional results are expected within 30 days. Approximately 1,700 rights holders are awaiting the completion of tests amid concerns over land value impact.

The Israel Land Authority (IMRA) updated the Herzliya Magistrate's Court that in one of the four private plots in the large block of the Sde Dov neighborhood in Tel Aviv, contamination anomalies exceeding the threshold values for direct contact with the soil were found. This concerns plot 2210, where PFAS compounds (forever chemicals) were detected exceeding the permitted values. In the other three plots – 2204, 2214, and 2202 – no anomalies were found. Results of tests in the remaining plots are expected within 30 days. IMRA emphasized that even in plots without anomalies, this does not determine that the land does not require treatment. Approximately 1,700 rights holders are awaiting the lottery for the plots, which was postponed from the end of June due to concerns over the extent of contamination and its implications for land values, development costs, and construction timelines. The suspected source of contamination is the use of firefighting foams at the airport that previously operated on the site.
