Chairman of the board of News 13, Eyal de Pau, resigned from his position amid heavy pressure from the Second Authority, as learned by Globes. Behind the official announcement of the end of his tenure lies a sharp correspondence between the Authority and News 13 and de Pau himself, due to unusual payments he received from the company above the legal ceiling. According to sources familiar with the details, the Authority's criticism is also directed at the network and News 13 for overpaying. The Authority is considering demanding the return of the overpaid funds. The problems began in early 2026, when strict directives of the Second Authority Council limiting compensation for public directors came into effect. De Pau is defined as a director on behalf of the public. The compensation he received was approved by the board in September 2025, before the regulations took effect, and is estimated at about 3,000 shekels more than he should have received under the regulations. De Pau's associates deny any pressure or unusual payments, claiming that attempts are being made to blacken his name.
