IAI debuts new tactical vehicle for German special forces
Israel Aerospace Industries unveiled the TAHR tactical vehicle for Germany's KSK special forces at their annual conference. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) unveiled the TAHR, a new tactical vehicle for Germany's Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK) special forces, at their annual conference in Altensteig-Wart on Tuesday. The vehicle is based on IAI's ELTA ZD chassis, battle-proven by Israeli special forces, and produced by Flensburg Technology Systems (FTS), a joint venture between IAI's ELTA division and German defense contractor FFG. Designed as a light, air-transportable platform, the TAHR incorporates operational modifications requested by the KSK, including an open architecture for weapons and sensors and a layout for improved situational awareness. Two TAHRs can be transported inside a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, with crews achieving combat readiness shortly after landing. The vehicle will be delivered in combat and support variants. FTS signed a framework agreement in October 2025 to supply up to 200 vehicles. KSK commander Brig.-Gen. Andreas Kühne said the TAHR is air-droppable and ready for deployment in any terrain. IAI CEO Guy Barlev described Germany as a strategic partner in developing joint defense capabilities. The rollout was delivered ahead of schedule, within one year of the project's start.
