Stricter sentencing: 13.5 years in prison for Israeli who spied for Iran

The Central District Court in Lod sentenced today (Wednesday) Alexander Granovsky from Petah Tikva to 13.5 years in prison for offenses against state security. Granovsky confessed and was convicted of contact with a foreign agent, passing information to the enemy, damaging property, and arson. According to the indictment, he maintained contact with an Iranian agent via Telegram, documented power plant facilities and the neighborhood of Knesset member Benny Gantz, and transmitted the videos to the agent. He also allegedly set fire to nine vehicles, sprayed graffiti, received instructions to destroy IDF uniforms, and served as a middleman in attempts to locate individuals with criminal records to carry out violent acts. He was aware that the person he was dealing with was acting on behalf of a hostile entity to Israel but continued to cooperate and even proposed additional tasks. In return, he received thousands of dollars via a digital wallet. The prosecution noted that this is the harshest sentence imposed so far in cases of this type.
