A horrific tragedy in Bali: a 56-year-old Australian citizen murdered his two young children and took his own life, in an event fully exposed in its horror via a live home security camera broadcast to their mother who was in Jakarta. The mother noticed during a call that the line was disconnected, and when she opened the security camera from her mobile phone, she discovered the device had been tilted downward. After remotely adjusting the angle, she watched in terror as the father chased their 4-year-old daughter in the living room, while the terrified girl screamed repeatedly in English: "I love you, Daddy." The father grabbed the toddler and dragged her to the bedroom, where he is suspected to have already strangled their 6-year-old son, and then killed himself. A local police spokesperson confirmed it was an unprecedented case, noting: "It appears he did it to his son first, and because the girl saw it, she tried to run away." A construction worker from the nearby complex, who broke into the scene following the mother's cries for help, discovered the children's bodies in the room with the TV still playing cartoons. The police investigation revealed that the father suffered from severe anxiety that worsened amid family friction, and had previously attempted self-harm. Neighbors described him as a quiet and friendly man, and just hours earlier the children were seen playing happily in the yard.
