Hendel to Vinter: Join us and we will be a blocking bloc for non-Zionist governments
Yoaz Hendel, chairman of the Reservists and Economic Party, called on Ofer Vinter to retract his commitment to a Netanyahu and ultra-Orthodox government and join a blocking bloc that would prevent the establishment of non-Zionist governments. Hendel proposed a surplus agreement and a commitment to a Zionist-only government, emphasizing that reservists are the natural partners for a decision on the battlefield, not the ultra-Orthodox or Arabs.
Yoaz Hendel, chairman of the Reservists and Economic Party, held a press conference this morning (Thursday) in which he directly addressed Ofer Vinter. Hendel called on Vinter to retract his stated commitment to a Netanyahu and ultra-Orthodox parties government, and proposed leading a joint political move including a surplus agreement and a declaration of entering only a Zionist government. Hendel defined this as an attempt to create a blocking bloc that would prevent the establishment of governments relying on non-Zionist elements. In his remarks, Hendel referred to the security and political reality, noting that last night marked three years since the worst disaster since the establishment of the state. He emphasized that the war that broke out following it changed Israeli society, and therefore politics cannot continue as usual. Hendel argued that the political system forces the public to choose between a government with the ultra-Orthodox that promotes draft dodging, and a government relying on Arab parties that do not recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization. He called on Vinter to break out of the concept and join them to reach a decision on the battlefield and prevent a coalition with ultra-Orthodox or Arab parties.
