Tal Meir on the decision not to broadcast the memorial ceremony: "We offered an alternative"

Tal Meir, host of 'Israel This Morning', explained why Channel 14 chose not to broadcast the October 7 memorial ceremony for bereaved families, and presented the screen image showing other channels broadcasting the ceremony while Channel 14 aired 'The Patriots' program. Meir claimed the channel gave a voice to a large part of the public that did not feel part of the ceremony, and linked the decision to the upcoming elections.

Tal Meir, host of 'Israel This Morning', addressed Channel 14's decision not to broadcast the October 7 memorial ceremony for bereaved families, and presented the screen image from last night showing other television channels simultaneously broadcasting the ceremony, while Channel 14 aired the program 'The Patriots' hosted by Yinon Magal. Meir claimed the channel sought to give a platform to a broad public that did not feel represented at the event, and called the ceremony 'nationalistic, waved by opposition blocs'. She mentioned the criticism of hostage survivor Rom Breslavsky, who said he was not allowed to speak at the ceremony, and the claims of bereaved families who felt a knife was being stabbed in their backs. Meir concluded her remarks with a reference to the upcoming election campaign: 'This is the story of the upcoming elections, friends. This is the story.'
