"Hamas" calls for protecting Palestinian journalists and holding perpetrators of crimes against them accountable
On the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian Journalists, Hamas called for protecting journalists and holding those responsible for crimes against them accountable, considering targeting them as war crimes. The movement stated that the occupation continues to target journalists, noting that over 262 journalists have been killed and more than 400 injured since October 2023, and foreign press is prevented from entering Gaza.
The Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" called on Saturday for solidarity with Palestinian journalists and condemnation of crimes committed against them, working to protect them and hold those responsible accountable. In a statement marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian Journalist, the movement affirmed that targeting journalists and media institutions and destroying them constitutes war crimes and crimes against humanity. It pointed out that the occupation continues to target journalists and media personnel, noting that since October 7, 2023, more than 262 journalists and media workers have been killed, and over 400 others injured, in addition to the continued prevention of foreign press from entering the Gaza Strip. The movement called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and journalistic institutions worldwide to condemn these crimes and work to protect journalists and hold perpetrators accountable. It also accused parties of pursuing Palestinian media institutions and attempting to block their content on social media platforms, holding "complicit" companies responsible for misinformation and covering up crimes. It called on Arab, Islamic, and international media institutions to enhance solidarity and convey the suffering of the Palestinian people and expose the occupation's crimes.
