Fireworks and arson in the Palestinian village: "Dozens of armed men arrived"

Palestinians reported that dozens of settlers arrived at the village of Abu Falah east of Ramallah early Sunday morning, clashed with residents, and set vehicles on fire. Police have opened an investigation, but no arrests are known. Residents spoke of constant vigilance and fear of repeated attacks, especially in light of similar incidents in nearby villages.

Palestinians reported that dozens of settlers arrived at the village of Abu Falah east of Ramallah early Sunday morning, clashed with residents, and set vehicles on fire. According to a report by the Palestinian news agency Wafa, vehicles were set on fire and the clashes also included throwing fireworks. Police confirmed that a report was received regarding suspected arson of vehicles in the village and that an investigation has been opened in the Judea and Samaria District. Mustafa Zaatar, owner of the vehicles that were set on fire, said that earlier clashes developed between youths from the village and settlers in the nearby mountain area. According to him, the settlers gathered, brought weapons, fired at the youths who fled to the area near his home, and then the settlers reached them. Another resident, Samir Shuman, said that the villagers have been on alert recently for the possibility of attacks, and that there are about four outposts near the village. Shuman also spoke of damage to property and agriculture, and that he himself had 57 olive trees cut down. The village council issued a statement thanking residents who volunteer for shifts, and called for unity and cooperation ahead of the olive harvest season. Police said an investigation has been opened and that police forces and investigators entered the scene accompanied by IDF forces. No arrests are known at this stage.
