The family of Capt. (Res.) Neria Zisk received his personal weapon and the investigation report on his fall from the IDF, ahead of the anniversary. Father Israel Zisk repeated in the meeting what he said to the tank crew members in which his son served: "Don't enter into pangs of conscience. You acted as expected and we love you." Neria, 24 at his fall, was born and raised in Moshav Masuot Yitzhak to a religious-nationalist-Zionist family. He served in Battalion 52 of the 401st Brigade, completed an officers' course, and was discharged in spring 2023. With the outbreak of the war on October 7, 2023, while on a trip to South America, he decided to return immediately to Israel even though he did not receive an emergency call-up order. He fabricated a story to board a flight, arrived on October 10, and joined the fighting in the Gaza Strip. On December 7, 2023, he fell when a steel cable got tangled in the tank's track, he volunteered to go out to fix it, and a sniper hit him. The platoon commander who covered for him was wounded. Two soldiers rescued them.
