Speaking at a discussion at Tel Aviv University, Eisenkot explained that only Israeli citizens will choose the prime minister and government. He praised Trump's contribution to Israel's security and the hostage release deal, but emphasized that Israel is a democratic country where the decision rests with the voters. Eisenkot expressed confidence that in nine days, the elections will be won by "a Zionist majority that puts the state's interests first and serves in the army." According to him, the US administration will be able to work with any government elected in Israel.
