Union threatens Arkia with labor action over cost-cutting and stock dilution
The Transport and Ports Workers Union sent a warning letter to Arkia owner Avi Hormaro and CEO, threatening steps including a possible strike unless cost-cutting and employee stock dilution are halted. A protest is planned for Tuesday.
Labor relations at the airline Arkia have worsened: the Transport and Seaports Workers Union sent a warning letter to the company's owner, Avi Chormero, and CEO Oz Berlovich, against the backdrop of efficiency measures, cutbacks, and dilution of employee shares. The letter, signed by the union's deputy chairman, attorney Nir Eisenberg, alleges that the company's owners are advancing moves that harm workers' rights while attempting to bypass their representation through consultants. The union demands an immediate halt to the moves, cessation of the consultants' work, and cancellation of the share dilution, warning that it will act 'with full force' if its demands are not met. A large protest is planned tomorrow outside the company's offices. At this stage, it is a warning before a labor dispute is declared, not a strike announcement. Arkia has not responded.
