Another problematic statement by Yosef Haddad: "Withdraw from every inch of Gaza"
Journalist Michael Shemesh published a 2024 video showing Yosef Haddad, candidate number 2 on the "Amcha Yisrael" list, calling for a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in cooperation with the international community. Haddad described a gradual withdrawal that would exact a heavy price from Israel. The affair joins a previous controversy where Haddad was revealed to have said in 2021 that the final solution is a Palestinian state.
Journalist Michael Shemesh published a 2024 video showing Yosef Haddad, candidate number 2 on the "Amcha Yisrael" list headed by Ofer Winter, addressing the future of the Gaza Strip. In the video, filmed in English, Haddad calls for a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, in cooperation with the international community—Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. Haddad described a gradual withdrawal: "Start withdrawing first from the civilian area, and then together with the international community... we can establish a force that will gradually allow Israel to withdraw from every inch of the Gaza Strip." He added that the process would take several years and exact a heavy price from Israel. The affair joins a previous controversy where a 2021 interview was revealed in which Haddad said, "The final solution, inshallah, is a Palestinian state." In response to the previous revelation, Haddad published a clarification claiming he changed his position after Operation Guardian of the Walls. The "Amcha Yisrael" party came to his defense, arguing it was archival material from years ago. Party chairman Ofer Winter said, "I am proud of Yosef Haddad," and rejected calls to oust him.
