Ahead of the elections: 'HaDibur' initiative launches 'Medabrim Acheret' campaign

The 'HaDibur' initiative, established by bereaved families from the war, is launching the 'Medabrim Acheret' campaign ahead of the elections on October 27. So far, 33 leaders from the right and left have joined the call for elected officials to adopt a respectful code of speech, including three principles: speaking with respect, listening to those who think differently, and remembering that we will continue to live together.

The 'HaDibur' initiative is launching the 'Medabrim Acheret' campaign ahead of the elections scheduled for October 27. The initiative, founded by bereaved families from the current war, includes among its founders Sarit Zussman, who lost her son in Gaza; Rabbi Shmuel Slotki, who lost his two sons on October 7 in the battle for Kibbutz Sa'ad; Hadar Elad-Ben Harush, who lost her partner in Gaza; Dr. Yair Ben David, who lost his brother in Gaza; and Tzipi Huri-Weiss, who lost her brother in Gaza. The initiative aims to cleanse political and public discourse of toxicity and divisiveness through monitoring politicians' statements on social media, lobbying policymakers, and promoting a 'speech charter'. The campaign calls on elected officials to adopt a respectful code of speech with three components: speaking with respect without insults and humiliation; listening even to those who think differently; and remembering that shared life continues after the argument. So far, 33 leaders from culture, sports, comedy, and civil society have joined, including Miriam Peretz, Yehoram Gaon, Gila Almagor, Rivka Michaeli, Nadav Aboksis, Eli Ohana, Iris Haim, Haim Yellin, Shuli Rand, Tsofit Grant, Major General Amos Yadlin, Major General Gershon HaCohen, Prof. Yuval Elbashan, Avri Gilad, and others. Sarit Zussman calls on elected officials to adopt the code, emphasizing that the goal is not to change opinions but to enable mutual respect and cooperation in the face of shared challenges.
