After the defeat against the Houthis: Saudi Arabia establishes a military investigation committee

Saudi Arabia has established a military investigation committee to examine the collapse of its backed forces against the Houthis in Yemen. According to a report in 'Al-Modon', Riyadh was surprised by the scale of the collapse, partly due to misleading reports on the ground situation. A senior military officer has been suspended, Tariq Saleh has been summoned for a hearing, and Saudi Arabia is considering establishing a new military force.

Saudi Arabia has established a military investigation committee to examine the military defeat against the Houthis in Yemen, following the collapse of its backed forces on Yemen's western coast. According to a report by 'Al-Modon', intense meetings are taking place in Riyadh between Saudi and Yemeni officials in an attempt to reorganize forces and prevent the Houthis from expanding their advance towards Taiz and Marib. Sources claimed that Riyadh was surprised by the scale of the collapse, partly because misleading reports indicating the situation on the ground was 'fine' were relayed to the joint operations room, preventing a proper assessment of the danger and timely decisive air intervention. The investigation committee has already begun its work in Riyadh and is expected to move later to Aden, where it will interrogate officers, field commanders, and intelligence personnel from the forces that fought under the command of Tariq Saleh. According to the preliminary investigation, the collapse resulted from a combination of a lack of unified command, withdrawals of various units, and a lack of coordination between forces. Saleh's forces withdrew before direct confrontation in several sectors, leaving the 'Giants' and 'Homeland Shield' forces in a difficult position. Following the defeat, it was agreed to establish a new joint operations room to oversee the forces and unify their activities. Saudi Arabia's current priority is to stabilize defense lines, protect Marib and the southern provinces, and prevent further collapse. 'Al-Modon' assessed that Tariq Saleh's military standing has been severely damaged, and that Riyadh is considering establishing a new military force.
