Israel's Consul General in New York, Ofir Akunis, invited him to a screening of the October 7 atrocities film, in a letter criticizing his statements against Israel.

According to the schedule for October 7, 2026, at 7:00 PM Mamdani will attend a memorial event, and at 9:00 PM he is expected to meet with Palestinians. Earlier today, Mamdani is scheduled to be interviewed on Univision's "¡Despierta América!" program and attend the annual memorial ceremony of the New York Fire Department. Israel's Consul General in New York, Ofir Akunis, publicly invited Mamdani to a screening of the October 7 atrocities film, in a speech at a state memorial ceremony and in a letter. Akunis wrote: "Your words against the State of Israel are a significant factor in the rise of antisemitism in New York."
