Youth forum in Lebanon calls for free elections to the Palestinian National Council

The National Forum of Palestinian Youth, in cooperation with the National Committee for Elections to the Palestinian National Council in Lebanon, organized a dialogue forum in Sidon, where participants called for free and fair elections to the National Council, rejecting policies of exclusion, appointment, and quota allocation, and emphasizing the representation of refugees and youth in the diaspora.

The National Forum of Palestinian Youth, in cooperation with the National Committee for Elections to the Palestinian National Council in Lebanon, organized a broad youth dialogue forum today, Saturday, in the city of Sidon in southern Lebanon. The forum addressed the issue of elections to the Palestinian National Council and mechanisms for representing refugees and youth in the diaspora. The meeting was attended by youth cadres and activists, as well as representatives of national forces, community figures, and trade unionists. Speakers stressed the importance of holding free, fair, and democratic elections to the National Council in Lebanon, affirming that Palestinian refugees have the right to choose their representatives freely and without guardianship. Participants expressed their absolute rejection of policies of exclusion, unilateralism, and monopolization of national decision-making, and rejected any electoral formulas based on appointment or narrow quota allocation. Participants indicated that comprehensive reform and development of the Palestine Liberation Organization should be based on national partnership and fair democratic representation. The final report affirmed that empowering youth and involving them in national decision-making is a priority, and that the electoral process is a gateway to achieving national unity. The forum concluded with a commitment to continue efforts to push for comprehensive elections.
