The discharge proceedings of the Gaza Division intelligence officer (Gaza Division intel officer) on October 7 have concluded. Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, decided to terminate his mandatory and reserve service, a decision made in November 2025. The decision followed an in-depth review of the Deputy Chief of Staff's opinion, investigation findings, and professional assessments of his failures in the period leading up to the events. The officer's claims regarding his responsibility, as presented to the advisory committee, were also considered. The officer, Lt. Col. A., petitioned the court against convening the committee, but the court rejected his claims, ruling the process was lawful and within full authority. Previously, the head of Military Intelligence, Maj. Gen. Shlomi Binder, removed the officer from all command and intelligence roles, and reserve Maj. Gen. Sami Turjeman determined he bore responsibility for failing to provide an intelligence picture that could have prevented the disaster. The officer has the option to appeal the decision.
