Yair Netanyahu, the prime minister's son, filed a NIS 500,000 defamation lawsuit against protest activist Ami Dror. The lawsuit was submitted to the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court and concerns a series of publications by Dror on social media and in an interview he gave to the media. In the lawsuit, Netanyahu describes Dror's actions as "a continuous and systematic campaign of defamation and humiliation." At the center of the lawsuit is Netanyahu's firm denial of publications claiming he attacked his father. He argues that this is a baseless rumor presented to the public as an established fact. Additionally, the younger Netanyahu also strongly denies any connection to the affair of leaking documents to the Bild newspaper and Qatari entities. One of the main publications detailed in the lawsuit was circulated in May 2025. According to the claim, Dror published that Yair Netanyahu slapped his father in front of other people, and then left Israel to evade a criminal investigation. It was further claimed that Dror described how Netanyahu tried to return to the country secretly, bypassing official border control. According to Netanyahu, the extensive detail in the activist's descriptions was intended to lend credibility to false claims.
