The Jerusalem District Court rejected the appeal of gynecologist Guy Rofe, who is accused of sexual offenses against a patient, and upheld the suspension of his license for five years. The court ruled that he is not allowed to present himself as a doctor, and that medical records are not privileged against self-incrimination – a precedent-setting determination according to the Ministry of Health.

The Jerusalem District Court rejected the appeal of gynecologist Guy Rofe, who is accused of sexual offenses against a patient, and upheld the Ministry of Health's decision to suspend his medical license for five years. The court ruled that a doctor may not continue to present himself as a doctor to the public, and criticized his conduct after the suspension. The ruling included a precedent-setting determination: a medical record is a statutory document that there is a legal obligation to prepare and keep, and therefore it is not considered personal material protected by privilege against self-incrimination. The appeal was filed against the decision of retired judge Amnon Strashnov. An indictment was filed against Rofe in June 2024 for offenses of rape by deception and indecent act by deception against a patient. The criminal proceeding is separate from the disciplinary proceeding. The Ministry of Health stated that it views any harm to patients with severity and maintains a zero-tolerance policy.
