In remarks delivered near Ben Gurion Airport, Winter claimed that the lessons from the disaster have not yet been learned. He referred to the Flydubai flight incident and stated that Israel was "a step away from the largest attack in the country's history," which he called "Israel's 9/11." According to him, similar to October 7, in this case too, heroic citizens took responsibility and saved the situation. The remarks were made ahead of the official state memorial ceremony for the October 7 massacre.
