Dina Miqdad.. Survivor of an Israeli Massacre with a Gouged Eye and Serious Injuries

Dina Miqdad (24) lost her right eye and suffered fractures and serious injuries in an Israeli strike on Gaza port on August 19, 2025, as part of ceasefire violations. Her husband was killed and her mother-in-law had her hand amputated. Dina underwent eight surgeries and still needs treatment outside Gaza.

Dina Miqdad (24) is still battling her serious injuries on a hospital bed at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, after losing her right eye and suffering multiple fractures in her body from an Israeli strike targeting a group of citizens at Gaza port on August 19, 2025. The raid resulted in the killing of 7 citizens and the injury of about 14 others, as part of ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10, 2025. Dina was on a family outing with her husband Essam Mortaja and his mother, where the husband was killed and her mother-in-law's hand was amputated. Dina underwent eight surgeries including removal of the right eye and surgery on the jaw, face, nose, and hands, and still suffers from a shrapnel in the brain, a fractured collarbone, and severe infections in the right hand threatening amputation. Her father, Riyad Miqdad, who works in the medical field, confirms her urgent need to travel for treatment outside Gaza due to the deterioration of the health system.
