Assuta Ashdod Public Hospital will mark the anniversary of October 7 with a unique exhibition titled "Between the Sights," created by Dana Dvorin, founder of the "Lights in the Darkness" association. The exhibition will open on October 14 inside the active hospital, an unusual setting. At its center will be about 60 photographs by 33 reservists, documenting not the battles themselves but human moments of friendship, responsibility, longing, and hope. Next to each photo, visitors can scan a barcode and listen to the personal story narrated by actors, including Tal Mosseri and Itzik Cohen. One of the subjects, Dudu Venetsovsky, served about 340 reserve days in six rotations, most in Gaza, and documented children's drawings found in a home in Gaza. The exhibition also brings the stories of medical staff, including Dalia Bidar Peretz, a trauma nurse from a kibbutz in the Gaza envelope who arrived at the hospital in an ambulance under fire; Dr. Lior Rosenthal, deputy director of the emergency room; Ira Shalom, head nurse of operating rooms; and Dr. Yaniv Nur, director of orthopedic trauma services, who returned from Toronto with the outbreak of the war. The exhibition also dedicates a perspective to women from security and rescue forces, whose testimonies were processed into sand art. Since October 7, the hospital has treated over a thousand war wounded, including hundreds of fighters, and its survival rates are among the highest in Israel. An international study recently published examined the hospital's functioning on October 7 and found that early preparedness enabled coping with the extreme event.
