When the solution comes out of the printer: the new developments in 3D surgery

At the Systematics NEXT conference in Tel Aviv, medical solutions based on 3D printing are presented: the PlanNet 3D center from Sheba presents anatomical models, implants, and customized tools for planning complex surgeries; the Restart association presents an accessory for crutch users developed following the need of an IDF wounded soldier, in collaboration with engineers from Rafael.

At the Systematics NEXT conference taking place today at Expo Tel Aviv, innovative medical solutions based on 3D printing are presented. The PlanNet 3D center from Sheba Medical Center will present tangible anatomical models, customized implants, and dedicated surgical tools, designed for planning complex procedures where standard options are insufficient. The process begins with CT or MRI scans of the patient, from which a 3D model is created and from it a physical model of an organ or bone structure. Alongside this, the Restart association, which assists IDF wounded soldiers, will present an accessory developed following the need of a wounded soldier named Anton, who was looking for a way to keep one hand free while using crutches. The accessory, developed in collaboration with volunteer engineers from Rafael, allows the crutches to be attached to each other and held with one hand, and is produced using 3D printing.
