The order came after days of severe clashes in which 194 people were arrested, 114 of them minors. 43 police officers were injured. Four adult suspects and two minors were transferred to the prosecutor's office. Meanwhile, a quiet protest of about 100 students took place at the August 20 Square. The Belgian interior minister, Bernard Quintin, arrived in Liège and described the situation as unacceptable, accusing the Antifa movement of manipulating teenagers. The police chief noted that rioters unconnected to the student protest had joined the demonstrations.
