We Are a Moment Away from Losing the Alliance with the US - and Then We Will Also Lose Israel | Dan Perry
Dan Perry, returning from ten days in the US, warns that Netanyahu is destroying relations with America. He presents Pew and Gallup data indicating a sharp decline in support for Israel among Americans, especially among Democrats and Jews. Perry argues that continued Netanyahu rule poses an existential threat to Israel.
Dan Perry, a columnist for Maariv, returns from ten days in the United States and warns of an unprecedented crisis in US-Israel relations. According to him, Netanyahu is destroying the relationship, and the change is felt among Jews and non-Jews, Democrats and Republicans. Perry cites a Pew poll from spring 2026 finding that 60% of Americans hold a negative view of Israel, compared to 42% in 2022. Among Democrats, only 16% hold a positive view of the Israeli government. A Gallup poll shows that for the first time, more Americans sympathize with the Palestinians (41%) than with the Israelis (36%). Perry emphasizes the erosion of support among American Jews, where only 34% define themselves as Zionists. He argues that a government with Ben Gvir and Smotrich, the violence in the West Bank, the destruction in Gaza, and the fight against democratic institutions have created an image of Israel that is hard to defend. Perry states there is no real alternative to the US and warns that another Netanyahu victory in the elections on October 27 would pose an existential threat.
