Watch: Nearly a physical confrontation between Eisenkot's candidate and Hadar Mukhtar
An unusual confrontation erupted at a political panel in Rehovot between Nir Hajbi, a candidate for the "Yashar" list and a bereaved father who lost his son on October 7, and Hadar Mukhtar, a representative of Likud Youth. Hajbi harshly accused Mukhtar of the government's failure to apologize, physically approached her, and attendees had to intervene.
An unusual and stormy confrontation erupted during a political panel held before an audience in the city of Rehovot, between the bereaved father, Lt. Col. (res.) Nir Hajbi, a candidate on Gadi Eisenkot's "Yashar" list, and social media activist and Likud Youth representative Hadar Mukhtar. Hajbi, who lost his son Yehonatan about three years ago on October 7, took the microphone and angrily addressed Mukhtar, accusing coalition and government representatives of ignoring him and his family, shouting: "Three years and no one has come to me to say sorry. Shame on you and those you represent." Mukhtar replied that she had visited the family and helped raise funds to commemorate the son. At this point, the confrontation escalated: Hajbi moved toward the panel table, leaned toward her, snatched her microphone, and continued shouting. Mukhtar stood up and responded: "Why are you being violent? Don't make a spin out of your son." Attendees and event organizers went up on stage, separated the two, and prevented escalation. Hajbi was removed for a moment, returned to the table, and the event continued. One attendee was heard saying: "Shocking, a completely inappropriate event."
