Unwanted endorsement: Political ad causes uproar at Jerusalem's Lev Academic Center
A political poster for Religious Zionist Party candidate Bezalel Smotrich displayed on the Jerusalem College of Technology-Lev Academic Center campus caused controversy. JCT management said the sign gave a false impression of institutional endorsement and called for its removal. The building owner refused. The poster was removed after several weeks.
A large election poster for Religious Zionist Party candidate Bezalel Smotrich displayed on the Jerusalem College of Technology-Lev Academic Center campus sparked controversy. The poster was mounted on the Machon Tal building, which houses female nursing students. JCT president Prof. Avi Domb and vice president Stuart Hershkowitz stated the institution is apolitical and the sign gave a false impression of endorsement. They asked building owner Oded Ben-David to remove it, but he refused, noting he had previously posted a Netanyahu sign. The nonprofit Academy for a Democratic Israel sent a legal demand to Smotrich. The poster was removed last week, with the remover unidentified.
