The search committee for the public broadcasting corporation has begun interviewing candidates for the position of council chairman, including Prof. Menachem Ben-Sasson, Eldad Koblentz, Moti Shklar, and Yona Wiesenthal. The process is taking place amid a legal battle and administrative paralysis, after the High Court of Justice overturned Minister Karhi's attempt to dismiss the committee chair.
The search committee for the public broadcasting corporation has begun interviewing candidates for the position of council chairman, against the backdrop of a legal battle over the council's composition and administrative paralysis that has persisted since November 2024. Globes has learned that four candidates have arrived for personal interviews: Prof. Menachem Ben-Sasson, a member of the corporation's council and president of the Hebrew University; Eldad Koblentz, former first CEO of the corporation; Moti Shklar, former CEO of the Broadcasting Authority, the Second Authority, and chairman of Channel 20; and Yona Wiesenthal, a member of the corporation's council and former CEO of the Broadcasting Authority. Additional candidates include Yulia Shamalov-Berkovich, chair of the Cable and Satellite Council, and Eva Medzhibozh-Levy, former director of the Israel Museum. Minister Shlomo Karhi attempted to dismiss the chair of the search committee, retired judge Nehama Monitz, but the High Court ruled the move invalid. The council currently has only six members, below the quorum of seven required for decision-making.
