An unusual incident occurred today (Sunday) at the Mishmar HaNegev base in southern Israel, when a bus carrying Givati reconnaissance soldiers caught fire. The bus was supposed to leave the base for a training exercise in Tze'elim, but one of the soldiers smelled a strong odor of gas and ordered all passengers to evacuate. Shortly after the evacuation, a fire broke out on the bus, accompanied by secondary explosions, possibly due to a gas canister in the luggage compartment alongside ammunition. The IDF stated it was a technical malfunction, and IDF forces with the assistance of fire and rescue services brought the incident under control and extinguished the fire. Minor property damage was caused, with no casualties. The incident is under investigation. Footage obtained by ynet shows the bus engulfed in flames.
