A bus containing only equipment caught fire at the Mishmar HaNegev base in the south. Following the fire, ammunition ignited and explosions were heard. Soldiers were removed from the area, but the base was not evacuated. No casualties. The circumstances of the fire are being investigated.
An unusual incident occurred today (Sunday) at the Mishmar HaNegev base in the south: a bus containing only equipment caught fire, and as a result, ammunition stored at the site ignited. There were no soldiers on the bus and our soldiers are safe. Soldiers at the base were removed from the fire area, but contrary to initial reports, the base was not evacuated. Footage from the scene shows thick black smoke rising above the base, with explosions heard in the background. A soldier who documented the incident said: "A gas balloon that ignited inside a bus can cause such damage. The entire sky is black." Later, the soldier described the intensity of the fire: "The bus is no longer standing, nothing. Here is the floor, there is no bus here." Upon hearing the explosions, he added: "All these explosions are ammunition igniting. There is weaponry here, stuff." At this stage, the cause of the fire is still unknown, and the incident is under investigation. There are no casualties.
