Iran's army spokesman, Mohammad Akraminia, declared that Iran intends to increase the speed and range of its ballistic missiles in order to strike more distant American bases. Akraminia said the current missiles are "very good," but need improvement because "the enemy is located at a greater distance from our shores – up to a thousand kilometers away." He added, without elaborating, that "excellent steps have been taken" regarding missile speed and accuracy. The announcement comes amid an unprecedented expansion of Iranian attacks over the past year. According to the report, Iran launched over 1,700 ballistic and cruise missiles, along with about 4,000 unmanned aerial vehicles, at at least ten different countries across the Middle East. Most of the fire was directed at Gulf states hosting American bases, with the UAE absorbing about 390 missiles and over 1,800 drones, Qatar and Kuwait each attacked with about 200 missiles, and Bahrain and Jordan absorbing dozens of additional launches. Meanwhile, there was a dramatic escalation with Israel, with hundreds of ballistic missiles launched directly from Iranian territory in several rounds of fighting.
