Turkey to begin manufacturing 'Turksat 7A' before end of year
Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced that Turkey aims to start manufacturing the 'Turksat 7A' satellite before the end of this year, in a statement to Anadolu Agency during the Teknofest festival in Sanliurfa. He stated that the ministry held talks with TUSAS, TUBITAK, and a private company to begin production, expecting the satellite to be launched into space within a few years.

This was stated in a statement to Anadolu Agency during the Teknofest Southeast Turkey festival in Sanliurfa province. The minister explained that the ministry held talks with the Turkish Aerospace Industries company TUSAS, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey TUBITAK, and a private company regarding the satellite's manufacturing. He added: 'We will start the manufacturing process before the end of the year, and we will see the 7A satellite, which we produced locally and nationally, in space within a few years.' He noted that Turkey continues to produce its satellites, in parallel with purchasing satellites from global companies, to meet the growing demand for communications and aviation services. He pointed out that Turksat satellites reach around 5.5 billion people worldwide, emphasizing that investments in the satellite field yield returns within a few years. In a related context, Uraloglu mentioned that Antalya province will host the 77th International Astronautical Congress IAC 2026 from October 5 to 9, and confirmed that Turkey will participate to benefit from global expertise.
