US President Donald Trump is considering firing the US ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, his son Donald Trump Jr.'s ex-fiancée, following an embarrassing revelation. According to a Wall Street Journal investigation, Guilfoyle approached Republican donor Eric Ditters and asked him to transfer $100,000 to cover her American Express bill, before her Senate confirmation process. Ditters refused. Trump said yesterday: "We are looking into it. Yes, we are not happy." Following the revelation, the State Department Inspector General's office opened an investigation. Additionally, a recording was revealed in which Guilfoyle boasted that Greek tycoons funded her flight to Paris and a luxury hotel. Senior administration officials discussed over the weekend the possibility that she would resign voluntarily. Her lawyer denied the authenticity of the messages. Democratic members of Congress are demanding her dismissal and prosecution.
