Hundreds of ultra-Orthodox youths rioted in Jerusalem, blocking roads, throwing stones at civilians and police officers, damaging municipal vehicles and stealing one of them. The police arrested 11 suspects. A policewoman was lightly injured in the head by a bottle that was thrown.
Hundreds of ultra-Orthodox youths violently rioted in Jerusalem last night (between Monday and Tuesday). The incident began around 3:00 AM on Haim Bar-Lev Boulevard, when rioters blocked roads, threw stones and objects at civilians and police forces. They damaged municipal vehicles and even stole one vehicle, which was later abandoned. A Border Police officer was lightly injured in the head by a bottle thrown at her. Another person, located by the police, was evacuated in mild condition after apparently being attacked by the rioters. The riots later spread to the Damascus Gate area, where the rioters clashed with local residents. Police and Border Police forces worked to disperse the crowd using crowd control measures. In total, 11 suspects were arrested for disorderly conduct, vandalism, and violent incidents, and were transferred for questioning at the police station.
