Herzog on the disturbances in Samaria: "A moral stain, a most serious act"

Herzog described the acts as a "moral stain" and a "blow to the rule of law," and called on law enforcement authorities to act decisively and prosecute the rioters to the fullest extent. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also condemned the riots, describing the rioters as a "handful" that does not represent the settler public, and backed the security forces. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, the most senior cabinet member to respond so far, called the acts "grave and abhorrent" and the rioters "criminals," emphasizing that they harm Jewish settlement and Israel as a whole. Chairman of the Yashar party, Gadi Eisenkot, harshly attacked, saying this is a "campaign of terror and violence" that is neither moral nor Jewish, and linked the events to the current government's policy, which he said has created "anarchy and loss of control." Chairman of the Democrats, Yair Golan, accused the Netanyahu-Smotrich-Ben Gvir government of playing with fire, and claimed it bears responsibility for the blood that will be spilled due to the atmosphere of lawlessness it creates. Chairman of Blue and White, Benny Gantz, condemned the "handful of extreme rioters" and called for restoring governance in Judea and Samaria and dealing severely with the rioters. All respondents backed the security forces and called for the full force of the law.
