In the United States, Guangtian Ha, an associate professor at Haverford College in Pennsylvania, has been arrested. He is accused of cyberstalking a colleague, political science professor Barak Mendelsohn. According to court documents, from October 2025 to May 2026, Ha sent Mendelsohn approximately 50 messages containing antisemitic threats, using at least four accounts on the social media platform X. The messages included insults, references to the Holocaust, Adolf Hitler, and the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023. One message called for sending Jews to 'special camps.' In addition to threats, Ha disclosed Mendelsohn's home address, the name of his youngest child, and a photo of his mailbox. Due to safety concerns, Mendelsohn's spouse and three children temporarily left the home twice. After the FBI identified him, the college administration placed Ha on administrative leave and banned him from campus. The prosecution is seeking detention pending trial. A bail hearing is scheduled for October 9. If convicted, the professor faces up to five years in prison. Ha is an associate professor in the Department of Religion, holding a doctorate from Columbia University. In 2024, he joined the 'Faculty for Justice in Palestine' network, which advocates for the liberation of Palestine and supports BDS.
