"They are tying my hands": the Shin Bet chief's harsh complaint to Solberg
Shin Bet chief David Zini met with Judge Solberg and complained that the service's legal advisor is tying his hands from investigating election interference in the Arab sector. Sources in the investigation claim the legal advisor is trying to block the probe.
Shin Bet chief David Zini met today with the chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Noam Solberg, and complained that the Shin Bet's legal advisor is tying his hands from investigating the election interference affair in the Arab sector, in coordination with the Attorney General. Sources familiar with the investigation claim the legal advisor is trying to block the probe and prevent real-time actions, while Zini seeks to expand it and examine suspicions of systematic and large-scale organizing. Those sources claim it is a "scandal" that Solberg is downplaying and demands findings by Wednesday. The Shin Bet responded: "We will not comment on what was said in closed discussions."
