Military analyst Oleksiy Hetman stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin has intensified strikes on Ukraine because time for pressuring Kyiv is running out. According to the expert, the Kremlin's calculation relies on Ukraine's shortage of defense systems, including anti-ballistic missiles and its own ballistic missiles. The situation may change when Ukraine gains the ability to launch ballistic strikes on Moscow.
Military analyst, veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, and reserve major of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksiy Hetman said in a comment to UNIAN that Russian President Vladimir Putin has intensified strikes on Ukraine because time for pressuring Kyiv is running out. According to Hetman, Putin is betting on Ukraine's shortage of defense systems: anti-ballistic missiles, interceptors against jet drones, and its own ballistic missiles. This is the basis of the Russian president's calculation. The situation may change when Ukraine gains the ability to strike Moscow with ballistic missiles. Hetman noted that at a weapons exhibition, ballistic missiles FP-7 (range 300 km) and FP-9 (range over 800 km) were already shown. The analyst emphasized that once Ukraine has a sufficient number of such missiles, dictating terms will be impossible—any strike on Kyiv will trigger a powerful ballistic retaliatory strike on Moscow. Hetman also believes that Russian forces continue terror against Ukraine's civilian population, trying to create people who will pressure Ukrainian authorities to demand an end to the war on any terms.
