The new calculator launched by the state: which home gas supplier is more worthwhile?
The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has launched an upgraded home gas calculator that allows consumers to compare prices between suppliers and calculate potential savings. The move aims to increase competition and lower prices, after ministry checks revealed significant gaps of hundreds to thousands of shekels per year between suppliers.
The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure launched today (Tuesday) an upgraded home gas calculator, allowing consumers to compare prices between gas suppliers in their area and calculate the potential savings from switching to a cheaper supplier. The tool was launched following ministry checks that indicated significant price gaps between suppliers, which can amount to hundreds or even thousands of shekels per year. New guides have been added to the calculator to assist in the process of switching suppliers. Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Eli Cohen, said the upgrade is part of a plan that includes steps to remove barriers and make corrections in the gas market, with the aim of increasing competition and lowering prices. The plan, which began in April, also includes publishing a monthly index that will reveal price gaps between companies.
