An indictment was filed against a resident of Eilat in his thirties, after he fled from police and barricaded himself on the roof of a guard building at the entrance to a school in the city. According to the indictment, on September 5, 2026, the defendant was asked to stop for a routine check, but accelerated his vehicle in an attempt to flee, collided with a traffic island, exited the car, and continued on foot. He climbed onto the roof of the guard building and barricaded himself there until one of the officers brought him down and arrested him. Police claim that after his arrest, the defendant cursed one of the officers and threatened to harm him and his family members, saying: "I will stab you, I will burn your children." The investigation revealed that the defendant never obtained a driver's license, drove during two judicial disqualifications, without valid insurance, and in a vehicle whose registration expired in 2016. Chief Superintendent Attorney Rotem Levi, head of the Eilat District Prosecution Branch, stated that his conduct demonstrates a real danger to the public and contempt for court decisions. Requests were filed for his arrest and disqualification from driving until the end of proceedings.
